Barbara Ann (Langley) McVey

Pawhuska resident Barbara Ann (Langley) McVey passed away Saturday, February 4, 2023 at The Journey Home, Bartlesville, OK.  She was 80 years young.

Barbara was born June 18, 1942 in Norman, OK the daughter of O.B. and Buna Lee (Baker) Langley.  Barbara was working at Dresser Titan in Oklahoma City, when she met William Richard “Dick” McVey, who worked in Pawhuska for Dresser Titan.  Six months later, on July 10, 1978, they were married in Vinita, OK and they have celebrated 44 years of marriage. 

Barbara owned First Finance in Pawhuska from 1985 until her retirement in 2007.  Since retiring, Barbara and Dick enjoyed spending time at their boat dock on Bluestem Lake and traveling around the country.  Their adventures had taken them from the Golden Gate Bridge in California to Virginia Beach, VA.  Dick had also taken Barbara to Las Vegas to see Celine Dion for a “special” birthday. 

Barbara was a faithful member of the Pawhuska First United Methodist Church.  She was a member and past president of the United Methodist Women.  She also was the decorator extraordinaire for UMW functions and special events in the Church.  Barbara was a member and past chaplain for PEO and member of the HEEKO Club.  She enjoyed decorating and hosting the HELP Works Christmas party every year.

Surviving family includes her husband, Dick McVey; daughters Carol Bailey and Donna Lynn Cope; step daughters Janet Dickey and Vera Stotts; a host of grand, great grand and great-great grandchildren, as well as other family and friends.  Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her twin sister, Barcia Grissom; brother, Billy Langley; and step son, Billy McVey.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, April 20, 11:00AM, at the First United Methodist Church of Pawhuska.  Rev. Brett Thomasson will officiate.
