BOBBY GENE GRAY of Hominy Oklahoma

Passed from this life April 14th, 2022 at Stillwater Medical Center from complications due to Covid-Pneumonia.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday April 20, 2022 at First Baptist Church, Barnsdall, OK.  Deacon Larry Kelly officiating. Burial will follow at Ethel Reece Cemetery, Barnsdall, OK. Arrangements made by Kendrick McCartney Johnson Funeral Home, Pawhuska, OK.

Bob was born on the family farm, at Barnsdall, OK., to Georgia Rutha Lee (McDonald) Gray and Charlie Franklin Gray on January 8, 1932. Bob graduated from Barnsdall High School. After graduation Bob went into the Army November 18th, 1952 during the Korean Conflict. He was attached to the Us Army / Korean Military Advisory Group. He taught English to his Korean military counter parts. During his service Bob received the Korean Service Medal, the Bronze Service Star, United Nations Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal, ROK Presidential Unit Citation and the Good Conduct Medal. He was also awarded the Purple Heart which he declined when he saw others with greater wounds than his.

After military service Bob worked at the Phillips Petroleum Research Center in Bartlesville, OK for 37 years. After retiring from Phillips Petroleum Bob became a successful rancher in Osage County near Hominy, OK., for over 20 years.

Bob enjoyed square dancing, square dance calling, hunting, fishing, scuba diving and spending time with his family and friends. He had great mechanical abilities. He received his first pay as a mechanic when he was only 10 years old. He was dedicated to his church and he served at the Barnsdall Nursing Home where he played music, sang, prayed with, and ministered to their residents for over 18 years.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents Ruth and Frank Gray, 6 brothers (Guy, Elbert, Charlie, Donald, Clinton and Baby Gray) and 4 sisters (Maxine, Ruby, Goldie and Vaudine).

He is survived by his 3 children, Greg Phillips of Broken Arrow, Tinna (Tina) Rogers and husband Ted of Drumright, OK., Keli Talbert and husband Shane of Center, Texas. 7 grandkids, and 12 great-grandkids. Two sisters… Maudie Sills and Kathleen Shanks, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers: Travis McKnight, Dusty Sills, Darrel Wyrick, Glen Miller, Michael Kelly, and Steve Cassity.
