Bryan David Smith, age 63, passed away on July 22, 2022 from a battle with cancer.
Bryan was born in Lafayette, Louisiana on December 23m, 1958, to Paul Clifford and Eva Charolette (Trisler) Smith. The family soon moved to Barnsdall, OK before steeling at Hulah Lake. He attended Barnsdall and Bowring Schools before graduating from Pawhuska High School in 1977.
Bryan worked on oil rigs, did construction and worked as a pumper most of his life. He was happiest anywhere outdoors, but particularly around Hulah Lake. Bryan loved to fish by any method – pole, trot line or noodling. His love of fishing was only outmatched by his love of hunting. Bryan grew up in a family that hunted to provide food and he never lost his love and respect for the sort and the animals.
Bryan opened his home to anyone who needed a place. He was as generous and kind as he was hard-headed and grouchy. Bryan loved his friends, most of whom were named “Billy”, at least that’s what he called them. Bryan lived the way he wanted and went out on his own terms.
Bryan is survived by his children and grandchildren: Mindy (smith) and Sean Candelaria and children: Jamie Marie, Emma, Beckett and Miles; Bett and Katy Smith and baby Logan. Also surviving are siblings Bruce Smith; Brad and Nina smith; John Bond; Sheila and Joe Sweeden; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Eva.
