Ellis Wesley Thomas passed away peacefully on June 24th, 2022 at his beloved ranch in Pawhuska, at age 84. Ellis was a dedicated and loving son, brother, husband, Daddy, Papa, and friend. He was born on April 3rd, 1938 in Wynona, to Mart and Bessie Lee Thomas. In 1961, Ellis married the love of his life, Judy, and treasured 61 years together. In 1970, Ellis started his first business, Thomas Dozer & Dumptruck Service. Ellis and Judy moved their family to Pawhuska in 1971, where he built his legacy and was well-known in the community for his unmatched work ethic that served as an inspiration to many. Ellis started CSC Oil Company in 1982 where he personally pumped his leases until the astounding age of 81. While Ellis wore many hats as an Oilman, Dozer Operator, and Rancher, his true passion was his family. He loved spending his free time supporting any and all Pawhuska sports, especially his grandkids’ teams. His legacy will be remembered as a man of few words, but incredible actions of servitude and loyalty.
Ellis was preceded in death by his parents Mart and Bessie Lee Thomas; siblings Ralph Myers, Mart Thomas Jr., Bessie Linville, Ruby Dildine, Sue Thomas, Jimmy Thomas; and son-in-law Dr. Mike Priest. Ellis is survived by his loving wife Judy and daughters Cindy (Joe) Tillman, Stephanie Priest, and Christi McNeil. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Matt Priest, Taylor (Rebekah) Priest, Connor (Taylor) McNeil, Madelyn Priest, Cade McNeil, and Cory Tillman. He is also survived by his brother Tommy Thomas and sisters Francis Coffman and Catherine Brown.
