Jacqueline Cunningham Mccann began her heavenly journey on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 surrounded by her loving family.
Jackie was the daughter of Jack and Roseann (Boone) Cunningham, paternal grand-daughter of Henry and Lily (Bighorse) Cunningham, maternal grand-daughter of Cynthia Daniels-Boone, and wife to Robert McCann. Jackie was born on August 27, 1962 in Pawnee, Ok. She graduated from Pawhuska Public Schools and attended Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute in Albq. NM, to obtain her associates in business management and later received her Bachelor's degree from Devry Institute of Technology. After graduation she moved home and began her 23 long year career with Walmart where she opened and managed numerous locations across Texas, Oklahoma, and Arizona. Her last location to open was Walmart Distribution Center in Ramona, Ok. After retirement, she worked for the Osage Nation where she served her people through different departments, most recently as Cultural Instructor at the cultural center.
Jackie was raised and lived a traditional way of life. She came from the WaKaKoLin District, and was from the Ponca Peace Maker clan; her Osage name was HompaToka. She was honored to serve as a cook for several drumkeepers and as head cook for many gatherings and Osage customs. She loved to share her traditions with others and passed down her teachings to many cooks. She was a devout catholic of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Pawhuska, OK.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers Milton, Lawrence, and Darrell Cunningham, and nieces Sunny and Megan Simone Cunningham. She is survived by sisters Asa Cunningham-Concha and Danna Cunningham; brother EuGene Cunningham Sr. Her five sons, Jack Daniel Cunningham, Cory Peters, RJ, Zeke, and Asa McCann; daughters Leah and Lillie McCann; three grandchildren, Kaysen, Connor, and Ava, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jackie will lie in state at Wakon Iron Chapel Wednesday, June 22 through Friday, June 24. Rosary will be held at Wakon Iron chapel on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at 7 pm, with Native American Church service to follow. Traditional Osage services will be held at Wakon Iron Chapel on Friday, June 24, 2022, at 8 am, followed by Catholic mass on Friday, June 24, 2022, at 10 am.
