Jerra Vonn (Willcox) Hulse

                Jerra Vonn (Willcox) Hulse passed away November 5, 2023 in Bartlesville at the age of 97. She was born in Hominy, OK to Harold and Tressa Willcox on September 3, 1926. She was the second of four children and grew up in Nowata and then Pawhuska, Oklahoma. She graduated from Pawhuska High School on May 22, 1944.

On June 26, 1946 she married William Frank Hulse, Jr. in Asbury Park, New Jersey. This was Frank’s final duty assignment in the United States Marine Corps after the end of WWII. The couple returned to Pawhuska in July 1947 and made their lifetime home there.

Jerra Vonn, also known as Jerry and Vonnie, joined the Assembly of God Church in 1947 and was a member of that congregation for the rest of her life. She was the church pianist for more than 40 years, taught Sunday School classes. She was secretary of the Women’s Missionary Council and was involved in the ladies quilt ministry for many decades.

A master multi-tasker, she was a lifetime wife, raised three sons, was a Cub Scout leader, a barber and seamstress for the family and a dedicated member of the Home Demonstration Club,. Her life was devoted to sharing the Good News of the Gospel and serving as a prayer warrior for one and all.

Jerra Vonn worked outside the home for more than 35 years until retirement – at Tolson Insurance Agency, Clyde Lake Insurance and Real Estate, the Osage Branch of Minerals and ultimately with Kelly and Gambill, Attorneys at Law. In retirement, she worked and travelled with Frank in their antique business.

Jerra Vonn is preceded in death by her husband, William Frank Hulse, Jr., parents, Harold and Tressa Willcox, her in-laws Frank Hulse Sr. and his wife Jewel, her siblings – LeRoy Willcox, Donna Cowan and Deloris Hamby and two sons, Steven L. “Rock” Hulse and Martin L. Hulse. She is survived by her son, William Frank Hulse, III and wife Nancy J. of Bartlesville, OK, daughters in law Sally Hulse, of Pawhuska and Julie Hulse MacAllaster, of Siloam Springs, Arkansas her grandchildren William Frank Hulse, IV, Lisa Marie Hulse, Robin Slack, Hailey Vonn Kramer, Lauren Hulse, Luke Hulse, Nickolas Love, Amber Love and Alek Love, 14 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild…numerous nieces and nephews.

Celebration of life will be held Friday, November 10, 10:30AM, at the Assembly of God Church, Pawhuska.  Pastor Tracy Fitzgerald will officiate.
