Jimmy Charles Wilson, 86, went to be with his heavenly father on February 21, 2022. He was born on June 18, 1935 in Akins, Oklahoma to James and Gladys Wilson.
Jim was a long-time educator. He started his teaching career in 1957 at Pawhuska and continued his own education, earning him the position of Superintendent. After retiring in 1990, he continued teaching at Wesleyan College, HELP Works and taught courses to prepare students who were working to earn their GED. His love of education has touched many lives throughout the years.
Jim was very active in the First Baptist Church in Pawhuska. He was Sunday School teacher and director, training union teacher and director, treasurer for many years, pulpit committee member, Deacon, as well as chairman of Deacons. He served on building committees and was a prayer warrior to many.
Jim served on numerous boards and committees involving community, church and the Pawhuska School System.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, James and Gladys Wilson, wife, Patricia Wilson, brother Bobby Wilson, sister Donna Otwell, and brother-in-law Eugene Qualls. He is survived by his wife, Julia Kirk Wilson of the home; sister Wava Qualls of Akins, OK; sister-in-law Shirley Wilson of Broken Arrow, OK; brother-in-law Phil Otwell of Sallisaw, OK; children Alan Wilson and wife, Kay, of Pawhuska, Dian Wilson Rowe and husband, Roger, of Ramona, OK; Elaine Wilson Jordan and husband, David, of Tulsa, OK. He has two stepsons, Brad Kirk of Tulsa, OK, and Tommy Kirk and wife, Melody, of Pawhuska, OK. He has six grandchildren, Lauren Wilson Dawson, Jonathan Wilson, Michelle Kleeman, Kasey Rowe, Sara Camp and Dylan Jordan. He also has five great-grandchildren Kolton and Kody Kleeman, and Lexi, Easton and Zoey Rowe, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be Friday, February 25, 10AM – 5PM. Family will be available at the visitation 3PM – 5PM.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 26, 1:00PM, at the First Baptist Church of Pawhuska. Pastors Justin Turney, Mark Formby and Pat Andrews will officiate. Interment will be in the Pawhuska City Cemetery.
