Obituary

Jo Nell Thornton, 88, of Pawhuska passed away Sunday, February 19, 2023 in the Barnsdall Nursing Home, Barnsdall, OK

Graveside services will be held Friday, February 24, 10:00AM, in the Pawhuska City Cemetery.  James Hager will officiate.

Jo was born in Vinson, OK on June 5, 1934 to William Oddly and Ruby (Pence) Moore.  She was a graduate of Mangum High School.  On February 26, 1955, she married James Thornton in Winfield, KS.  They were married just shy of 68 years.

Jo worked as a clerk for Weigants Pharmacy for over 20 years.  She enjoyed going to garage sales, making quilts for the kids and traveling. 

She is survived by her husband, James; son Luke Thornton, daughter Kathy Ammons and husband, Dean; son Les Thornton and wife, Stacy; brothers Sam Moore and Pat Moore and wife, Susan; nine grandkids and 12 great grandkids.  Jo is preceded in death by her son Mark Thornton; her parents, Todd and Ruby Moore; sister June Mitchell and brother William Moore
