Katie Hope Adair was born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma on August 29th, 2002 to Richard and Jennifer (Ashlock) Adair. She turned 21 this year. She grew up in Pawhuska and was homeschooled through high school. In May of this year, she graduated Suma Cum Laude with her associates degree in Culinary Arts from OSUIT. Food was a passion of hers, and a gift. She loved to feed people and put her heart into her dishes. It was her dream to be chef in her own farm to table restaurant one day. She had just completed her first semester as a Junior at Oklahoma State University studying animal and food sciences.
Katie was passionate about her faith. It was very important to her to keep God in the center of her life. At OSUIT she was an active member of the Baptist Collegiate Ministries and later participated in the Table student ministries at OSU Stillwater. She kept an extensive vinyl record collection and loved 50’s music. She played both Ukelele and guitar, self-taught. She loved to crochet things for her friends and family. Puzzles and playing card games or board games were a favorite- she loved being with her people.
Her smile was a celebration of life. You could feel it, like warm sunshine on your face. But she didn’t know this, she would never have thought that she was anything but ordinary, and that is part of what made her extraordinary. Katie was so loved. She made such a difference to so many in her short time here. There was a purity in her spirit that made your heart glad to be near her.
