Lauree Carriger Obituary

On the morning of February 10, 2021, Lauree Lanie Carriger was released from her pain and suffering to be reborn into her new everlasting life in heaven. Lauree was born March 29, 1934, second daughter of Lawrence and Eleanor (Stevenson) Lanie. She attended grade schools in the Manchester, OK, Grant County area. She attended high school in Blackwell, OK, Kay County, graduating in 1952. She attended Northern Oklahoma College, Tonkawa, OK, earning a degree in business communications.

Lauree married Lonnie Carriger of Blackwell, OK, on February 25, 1954. Lauree and Lonnie farmed near Blackwell and Ponca City, OK, farming wheat, alfalfa, soy beans and raising cattle. They later moved to Pawhuska, OK, to be near Lauree’s parents, Eleanor and Lawrence. Lauree and Lonnie grew their farming and ranching business to farming over 2000 acres raising wheat, soy beans and cattle. They developed a housing addition west of Pawhuska called Oak Ridge Acres.

They also raised four sons, Mark, Dennis, Andrew and Patrick. Lauree was a busy wife and mother all through the years serving as secretary, bookkeeper and cooking for farmhands as well as family for their farming and ranching enterprise. Lauree was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Pawhuska for 50 years. She enjoyed delivering beef and produce from their large garden to the nuns who taught in the Catholic School during her sons’ years of attending the school until it closed.

Lauree and Lonnie’s life at the big white house on the hill west of town was filled with many large family gatherings full of children playing, fish fries and abundance of meals with food raised on their own land to be enjoyed by all. When they moved into town to the “new” house on 12th street they continued their love of gardening to provide fresh produce for their meals and family who continued to visit.  Lauree was caregiver to family members ill and in need all her adult life.

Family was everything to Lauree.

Lauree is survived by her son Andrew (Bette) and her son Dennis. She will be missed by her grandchildren Matthew (Farrah), Sean (Lina), Hope (Travis), and Chere’ (Thomas). She loved her great-grandchildren Peyton Noel, Garrett James, and Lucien Larrick. She is survived by her sister, Joyce and many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.

Lauree was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie (June 2006), son Mark (March 2011) and son Patrick (March 2005). Her father Lawrence Lanie (Sept. 2002) and her mother Eleanor Lanie (Oct. 2008). Her sister Lois Massaro (April 2017) and brother-in-law Virgil Massaro (January 2015).

We are so happy our sweet Lauree is finally at peace and is home with loved ones she has missed so much.
