Lina Jane Stabler, 87, born on October 11, 1934 to Onan Amza Moore and Lena Kathryn Nee’ Cooper Moore in Barnsdall, Oklahoma. She was a long time resident of Pawhuska and passed from this mortal realm on January 10, 2022, in Bartlesville, OK.
Lina moved to Skiatook from a young age and then moved back to Barnsdall in 1947, where she graduated high school. Lina married Louis “Bitsy” Stabler in March 1957. She graduated from Draughon Business College in Bartlesville then shortly after started work for Cities Service. She transferred to Tulsa when the company changed to Occidental Petroleum Company where she worked until retiring in the 1980s. Lina enjoyed Osage finger weaving, reading, flowers, bowling, sewing, and spending time with friends and family.
Lina was a loving devoted mother and grandmother, family meant everything to her, and she always put her family above herself. Lina was a very kindhearted generous person, always helping others in one way or another. Lina was not born of Osage blood; however, Lina was Osage and native in her heart and along with her husband raised her children to follow the Osage life. She was very active over the years in Osage activities.
Lina is preceded in death by husband Louis “Bitsy” Stabler and survived by her children; son George Stabler and wife LaDawn of Broken Arrow; Oklahoma, daughter Jana Stabler of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Lindsay Stabler, George Stabler, Jr. and Daniel Stabler all of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; two great grandchildren, Justin Peterson and Faith Gee, both of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Nephew Larry Parker and wife Sherri of Claremore, Oklahoma. Cousin Eldon and Connie Prawl of Missouri. She will dearly be missed by many friends and loved ones.
Funeral services will take place at Wakon Iron Chapel in Pawhuska Indian Village. There will be a wake/Indian service Wednesday at 7 o’clock p.m. at Wakon Iron. Funeral services will be Thursday at 9 o’clock a.m. followed by internment at Pawhuska Cemetery.
