Linda Dawson Obituary

Pawhuska resident Linda Dawson, 74, passed away unexpectedly on May 24, 2023.  

Linda was born March 8th, 1949 in Pawhuska, OK the daughter of Levi and Nina Dawson. She was a member of The Immaculate Conception Church.  Linda graduated from Pawhuska High School with the class of 1967. After graduation, Linda attended Oklahoma State University. She was a die-hard POKES fan and she enjoyed watching the games every Saturday with her children and grandchildren. She especially looked forward to the grandkids' special half-time performances that they would put together for her to enjoy. Linda never met a stranger, had an infectious smile and was loved by many. She loved being a mother to her children, but she especially loved being a grandmother and great grandmother. 

In 1970, Linda married Rick Laird and from that marriage they had two children, Scott and Cori. Rick and Linda were married for 25 years and would later divorce but remained close friends. Linda worked several jobs over the years that she enjoyed, but her favorite was working at the Child Support Enforcement Agency as a caseworker where she would retire. In retirement, she enjoyed reading, solving crossword puzzles, Diet Pepsi, and her beloved cat, Marvin Molly Catson.

Surviving family includes her son, Scott (Mandy) Laird; daughter, Cori Parker; grandchildren Britt (MacKenzie) Hurd, McKenna (Antonio) Hurd, Shelby Laird, Macy Laird, and Thatcher Parker; great-grandchildren Braylen Laughlin, Blakely Hurd, Lilliana Robledo; and sister, Marie Soderstrom.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents Levi and Nina Dawson; sister, Anna Lily Daniels; brother-in-law, Alan Soderstrom; and nephew, Brandon Daniels. 

Mass will be Friday, June 2, 10:00AM, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.  Father Emmanuel Nduka will officiate.  Interment will be in the Pawhuska City Cemetery.
