Patia Anne Pearson, age 66, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma passed away unexpectedly on November 18, 2022 near Guthrie, Oklahoma in an automobile accident.
Patia was born in Pawhuska, Oklahoma on February 27, 1956 where she lived with her family in Pawhuska as well as nearby Pearsonia, then Chula Vista, California and back to Edmond, Oklahoma where she graduated from Edmond High School. Patia attended Southwestern State University in Weatherford graduating in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Records Administration and a minor in Allied Health.
Patia’s career spanned 35 years in the medical field as Director of Health Information Management at Childrens and Memorial/OU Health Center, Santa Monica Hospital, the VA Hospital in West Los Angeles and St Anthony’s Hospital in Oklahoma City. Patia recently joined the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) and was very active socially and in the community.
Patia is a proud member of the Osage tribe and belongs to the Eagle Clan. Her Osage name is A-nah-toh-a-pe which means ‘one seen by all’ which truly fit her personality. On her fathers’ side she is the granddaughter of original allottees October Tobias (Tobe) Pearson and Mary Catherine (Trumbly) Pearson and on her mother’s side she is the granddaughter of Edgar Van (Skeet) Blanc who owned Skeets Place (for billiards) in downtown Pawhuska and Lester (Fulgham) Blanc. Patia’s parents were Wendell October (Pat) Pearson of Pearsonia, Oklahoma and Hallie Lela (Blanc) Pearson of Pawhuska, Oklahoma.
Patia is survived by her longtime companion Dr. Gene Muse; her sister, Mary Lester (Pearson) Oklah; her niece and nephew Reema Oklah and Ramsey Oklah; her great nieces and nephews Talal Alzubi, Dana Alzubi, Mila Oklah and Kiaan Oklah as well as her beloved Aunt Kathleen (Blanc) Maker formerly of Hominy, Oklahoma and numerous cousins and friends.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, November 28, 2022 at Wakon Iron Chapel in Pawhuska Indian Camp. John Maker will be officiating. Visitation will be held from Saturday November 26th through Monday, November 28th with a final viewing after the service at Wakon Iron. Burial will be completed by noon under the direction of Kendrick McCartney Johnson Funeral Home. The meal following will be at the Osage Nation Civic Center (1449 W Main St) Pawhuska, Oklahoma.
Pall Bearers will be Scott Bighorse, Kenny Bighorse Jr., Vann Bighorse, Pete Bighorse, Ramsey Oklah and Talal Alzubi and honorary pall bearers will be James Anthony Maker III and Joel Alfred Maker.
