Patria Yount Obituary

Patria Louise Yount went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 14, 2022, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.  She was 85 years old.  The daughter of George Warren and Ova Adeline (Edwards) Dowdy, Patria was born July 6, 1937, in Vinita, Oklahoma.

Patria married Samson Joseph Blythe Jr. in 1955, and they had 4 children: Joe, Trey, Chris, and Terri.  Patria was a secretary and did clerical work at the Osage County Courthouse, DHS, and in the Field Solicitor’s office of the BIA.

On June 10, 1978, Patria was married to Bill L. Yount, and she gained twin daughters, Kay Yount Wilson and Karen Yount Milleson.  Bill and Patria owned and operated the Sears Catalog Store in Pawhuska for a few years.  When Patria retired, she spent her time lovingly caring for her family.  She provided childcare for her grandchildren and spent many years of enjoyment, attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and activities, cheering them on.

A member of the First Baptist Church in Pawhuska and graduate of PHS Class of 1955, Patria was active in Choir, Ensembles, and Cheerleading.  Throughout her life, Patria had a love of worship through music.  She enjoyed serving her Lord through playing the organ at FBC for over 30 years and singing in the choir and in a trio.  An especially memorable blessing was to hear Patria sing duets with her sister, Sharon Dowdy Corley.

Surviving is her husband Bill Yount, of Pawhuska; son, Joe Blythe of Stillwater; son, Trey Blythe of Cleveland; son, Chris Blythe and wife Carla; daughter, Terri Culver and husband Jon; daughter, Kay Wilson and husband Alan; daughter, Karen Milleson and husband Rodger, all of Pawhuska; brother-in-law, Bob Corley of Stillwater.  Also surviving are her grandchildren, Jamie Shackleford, Lindsey Craig and husband Zac, Brett Blythe and wife Ressie, Kylie Blythe, Jarrett Blythe and wife Rachel, Kamryn Blythe, Brett Smith and wife Katy, Mindy Smith and husband Sean Candelaria, Blaine Culver and wife Ashlee, Kyle Culver, Carlie Culver, Lauren Dawson and husband Ed, Jonathan Wilson, Carissa Lott and husband Dustin, and Shelby Milleson.  Patria is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends.

Patria was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Sharon Kay Corley; infant brother, Phillip Dowdy; S.J. Blythe Jr.; father-in-law, Floyd Yount; sister-in-law, Dee Yount; brother-in-law, Ed Yount; and grandson, Brice Milleson.
