Sherry Jane (Pappan) Hughes

Sherry Jane Hughes, 74, of Pawhuska, OK passed away on March 3, 2022 in Blackwell, OK.

Graveside services will be held 2:00PM on Friday, March 11, 2022 at the Pawhuska Cemetery with Gary Wilburn of Humanity Hospice officiating.  Arrangements made by Kendrick McCartney Johnson Funeral Home.

Sherry was born in Tulsa, OK to John and Betty Pappin.  She attended school at Pawhuska High School, where she graduated in 1966.  She married Robert Gordon Hughes on August 22, 1967.  Sherry worked at Pawhuska Headstart and Jeanie’s Daycare, where she created lifetime bonds with several of the children.  She enjoyed time with her grandkids and great grandkids.  She was an avid football fan (ROLL TIDE!!).  She enjoyed Monday Night RAW and spending days at the salon getting a fresh coat on her nails and signature perm, where she often enjoyed the company of Miss Molly.  Sherry also enjoyed spending time at the Elks Lodge, dancing and singing the night away. 

Sherry is preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bob), both parents, three siblings and a great granddaughter, Kynzlee Grace.

Sherry is survived by her daughter, Kay Arnce and Mike Bray of Blackwell; daughter Robin Hughes and Frank Mitchell of Blackwell; brother Robert Pappin of Sand Springs; grandchildren Kelsey Marie Arnce of Pawhuska, John Robert Arnce of Pawhuska, Haley Jane and Bryan Penka of Blackwell, Haden Troy of Blackwell, Kelsey Lynnn Unap of Pawhuska, Tylor Huffman of Ralston, and Danny Stansberry of Barnsdall; great grandchildren Adilyn Kay, Jayden William, Kaius Alexander, William Lee, Leighton Faith, Remington James, and countless lifelong friends.

The family of Sherry Hughes would like to thank Humanity Hospice of Ponca City, Kendrick McCartney Johnson Funeral Home and anyone who shared a laugh with Sherry.
